"If u could have 1 band/group/singer do a cover of any song...what would it be?"

Thought it was a cool idea (that didn't get very many replies)

Mine-
Tom Waits doing Marc Cohn's "Providence"
&
Mung doing Jerry Reed's "Amos Moses" (make it count, son)

Wanna play here?
and throw in one or two of your favorite existing covers....

Mine-
Joe Cocker doing Steve Winwood's "Talking Back To the Night"
and any of Idris Mohammad's (jazz/fusion) covers of James Brown

Yeah - they have made it onto my playlist at work lately, along with Avenged Sevenfold, and a couple of others I picked up off of Headbanger's Ball off MTV

most are more in a different category than KsE like Lacuna Coil, Paragon, Morifade, Hed Planet Earth, Flaw, Gaia Epicus, Nightwish, Korn

And of course the classic Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, and Joe Satriani

Mercyful Fate covering one of my songs. Preferrably the Song For The Dead *nods towards The Ghastly One*. Would sound great with King Diamond's signature falsettos. *dream*

oh hey, Slayer's "Raining Blood" done by that groovy songwriter called Carl Savard, now THAT would something to die for ;-)

edit
covers I love to death:

- Metallica's Mercyful Fate medley (twelve minutes of Satan)
- Mercyful Fate's version of Judas Priest's THE RIPPER *broad grin*
- Bruce Dickinson's take on Tom Joness DELILAH
- DIE IN FIRE, originally by Bathory (r.i.p. Quorthon) but performed by Niflheim
- Neon Knights, I wanna be somebody, Fast as a Shark, all performed by WITCHERY
- Dimmu Borgir's version of "Burn In Hell"
- Uppercut's takes on PHOBIA (Kreator), Damage Case, Dog-Face Boy, Sex And Outrage (all Mot?rhead)

damn, SW, that's a GREAT idea!!
we've been looking for a new cover, and I just scored that Jerry Reed album a couple weeks back.
wonder if I can con the guys into doing it?

my pick...
Tom Waits doing "At War with Satan" from Venom. 18+ minutes...

and just for a laugh, Slayer doing "Barbie Girl". only if Lombardo is on drums.

Hey Ripper, have you heard Probot yet? I love the King Diamond vocals on the last track!

Keeping on topic, I would like to hear Tori Amos cover NIN's "The Becoming". Even though I am not a Tori fan anymore, I am sure she would do justice to that song.

Also, I just got Johnny Cash's Unearthed - a treasure trove of covers! It's a 5 disc set.
